Explore York

Explore York serves as the Official Tourist Promotion Agency for York County, Pennsylvania and works on behalf of the County to attract tourists, those visiting York County from beyond a 50-miles radius. These efforts are funded through a tax on Hotel stays and a portion of the funding is given directly businesses and organizations via their Biannual Tourism Grant Program.

York County Parks & Recreation

The York County Parks & Recreation Department is the entity that managers York County’s 11 – soon to be 12 County Parks. In total, the York County Parks & Recreation Department maintains over 4,300 acres of land that is accessible to York Countians to use for recreation.

York County Heritage Rail Trail Park
The York County Rail Trail Park (which comprises the entirety of the 27-mile York County Heritage Rail Trail) was established in 1992. The park and its trail are managed by the York County Parks Department, who also determines park rules and regulations.

York County Rail Trail Authority

The York County Rail Trail Authority is a County Authority that was established by the York County Commissioners in 1990 to oversee the construction of the York County Heritage Rail Trail. Upon the completion of the York County Heritage Rail Trail, the authority turned over management of the trail to the York County Parks Department. The YCRTA continues to work to expand York County’s Trail network, including via the Hanover Trolley Trail Project.

Hanover Trolley Trail Project Status
The Hanover Trolley Trail Project is working to create a multi-use trail connecting Hanover Borough to York City along the former 16.5-mile route of the Hanover Fast Line Trolley Trail. To date, roughly six miles of trail have been constructed. Work continues to bring this trail to life and envision future connections to other regional trails.
